25 Things Writers Should Stop Doing

25 Things Writers Should Stop Doing.

Chuck Wendig brings the awesome. This is no surprise as he tends to do this with some degree of frequency.

Here he brings one of his 25 Things posts to the subject of what writers should stop doing.

I think, in a nutshell, this boils down to:

  1. Stop fucking around
  2. Be Realistic
  3. Write what you feel you need to write.

And that is pretty much it. Of course, being Chuck Wendig he does it at a more granular level and with more profanity than I do.

Having first pushed the button a couple days ago, I think #25 Stop Being Afraid is by far the most important. It is ridiculous how nervous I was when I was putting it up. It’s just a silly little story and I have almost no expectations for it whatsoever. It’s not something I poured my soul into; it’s just something I thought would be a cute story. In no way is my self worth wrapped up in this thing and yet, I was noticeably nervous in doing it. That’s pretty weird considering there is no real downside.

Anway, Chuck Wendig rocks and y’all should be reading him.

Nice. I checked it out and I shared it with someone who writes.

#1 Stop fucking around – yep, that’s the important one for me. ;)

The fact that I am neither eating, sleeping, nor writing suggests you aren’t alone.
